A small explanation for the Seti@Home Project. There is an array of radio dishes located at Aricebo Puerto Rico that collect radio waves from approximately 1/3 of our galaxy, the Milky Way. When the dishes are finally done with collecting the radio waves, there will be about 3 years worth of data to process. Unfortunately, that is something that the Seti Project found finacially daunting and extremely time consuming. So someone came up with the idea to write some programs that would allow people at home to help process data. And Seti@Home was born. I have been running seti@home software for almost 3 years. Right now, it takes my computer approximately 121 hours to process 107 seconds of information. With anyluck we will find some radio waves from intelligent beings. For more information go to Seti@Home!
